So this is the Tree of Enchantment!

My mom, Anna and I went to Abner Jackson Plantation. I've known about it for several years but have never been. It's pretty much where Lake Jackson was started as far as I know. Then it got trashed by a storm in 1900 and Dow Chemical came along in the 40's. Why anyone would want to establish a sugar mill or anything for that matter, and purposely live on swamp land in plantation times, with that type of clothing and no a/c, I'll never know! Cheap land, I guess? We chose to live here but we have a/c and can wear shorts and sleeveless shirts! :)

It was a hot hour or so and the mosquitoes were in full force. Thank God for the invention of mosquito repellent! That seems to be my perfume of choice these days. We managed to walk the whole plantation which is more like a strip of land with only ruins left and story boards to tell about what was once there.

We saw the Tree of Enchanment! I say that with some sarcasm... This is the tree where the Lake Jackson, rather the City of Enchanment, logo came from. I never knew that the tree in the logo had a specific origin. Now I know. We affectionately call the City of Enchanment where we live "The City of Entrapment". :) Tommy and I were mostly brought up in this area so it's home and will always be our family home even though it is really not a place of grandeur at all.

At the end of our tour, there were some guys reinacting and telling stories about life "back in the day". Then we saw this crazy big, ugly bug!! It looked like a giant mosquito. Imagine how much Benadryl one would need after getting a bite from that thing! I think it was actually a mosquito moth or something like that.

All in all, it was worth visiting - once. And I'm glad I got to experience it with my mom and daughter.

Here are some pics. I particularly like the bird poop and the bullet hole on the sign in that 2nd pic. My mom thought it was bad that it was there. I did too but I also thought it was funny. You can click on the story board pics to make them larger if you want to read about it.

Love Never Fails

Tori and Jakeb performed their last song at BPF (our church) this morning and our good friend, Jason C. played the djembe for them which made it that much more special. It was awesome! The lighting was bad, my video skills are seriously lacking and the lady taking offering got in my way but, oh well.

I LOVE it when my kids make music!!

For those of you reading this on my facebook, you'll have to got to the blog to watch it. www.stunz.blogspot.com

Walk With Me Quiet

Music does it for me. It connects me to who I am, to who I've been and who I want to be. It is also what connects me to my Creator more than anything else. That connection has been a little on the fritz lately.

But... this song did it for me. Recently, I've listened to it over and over and can't get enough. I've thought about sharing it with you for over a month now but have been a little stingy. For whatever reason, today was the day to share.

I'm broken. I'm not fixed and at times I'm pretty sure I'm not fixable. I'm not restored but I have hope that I will be. Someday.....

Through this song, I've connected to who I am. To who I want to be. To God.

Walk With Me
by Caedmon's Call (Back Home)

Walk with me quiet,
Walk with me slow.
Watered down coffee,
Words of Gold.

Will you lead me,
beside the still waters.
With oil that runs over.
My cup overflows.
You restore my soul.

If I knew how to post just the song on here I would, but I don't and I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to. So, go find it. Everyone has iTunes, right? Go buy it. It's worth the .99. Maybe it will do it for you too.

Bottle Tree Park - Singapore

Dedee and Jenny, I thought of you when I watched this. All of this food, except the mushrooms, looks yummy to me but I promise we'll find some normal food for you when you come! There's always McDonald's and Starbucks. We also hear there's a BBQ place with red and white checked tablecloths and everything!

This is a place that I found from one of the Singapore blogs I read. The park is called Bottle Tree Park and I'm pretty sure we'll end up visiting there. I wonder if we'll ever be able to understand what they are saying in this video? Chopsticks and strange food, here we come!!

"You're sitting in a chair in the sky!!!"

I thought it would be a good day for a video. Here's a good one about the spoiled generation we live in.

Go watch it.

Coaches rock! And teachers!! And parents!!!

Those who invest their lives in the lives of our children, thank you! Those who do the unusual or unexpected, or perhaps the unthinkable, thank you! Your efforts are not wasted. These boys are proof!

REALLY Inspiring Video

Ok, here's another video I ran across and found inspiring enough to share with you. The love a parent has for his/her child is always inspiring to me.
